Welcome to the hearth
The Magnetic Hearth began in a way I never could have planned. Gareth simply asked whether I wanted to make jam with him. That one question sparked ideas for cookbooks, which led me back to my love of all things magical and became the beginning of The Coven Hearth.
While exploring that passion, I noticed there weren’t many magnets made for people who loved witchy designs. So, I invested in my first magnet makers and The Little Magnetic Studio was born.
Magnet making then led to badge making. I invested in an electric badge machine so I could turn even more ideas—including children’s own drawings—into badges, keyrings and other little creations.
Then I discovered 3D-printed magnet frames and thought, “Ooh, I like that idea.” Before long, I had bought a 3D printer and Phoenix 3D Printing became the next part of the journey. Our first 3D-printed magnet frames will be joining the shop soon.
Craft Destash comes from a more personal chapter. I bought the craft supplies while I was grieving, but most of them were never used. As time went on, I realised that magnet and badge making, along with 3D printing, were the crafts I truly enjoyed. Rather than leave those supplies sitting untouched, Craft Destash gives them the chance to find new homes with people who will enjoy using them.
All of this has grown while I’ve been rebuilding after redundancy and caring for a temporary foster child. It hasn’t always been easy, but creating has given me something positive to build—one idea, one product and occasionally one unexpected piece of equipment at a time.
Today, The Magnetic Hearth brings The Little Magnetic Studio, The Coven Hearth, Phoenix 3D Printing and Craft Destash together under one creative roof. What began with making jam has become an independent little business filled with magnets, badges, magical finds, handmade ideas and plenty more still to come. And those original cookbook ideas haven’t been forgotten—I’ll eventually find my way back to making those too.
